The Coalition To Restore Democracy, drew attention to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling on January 21st, 2015.
We rallied at Federal Plaza, 230 S. Dearborn, Chicago at 10:30 a.m. as part of a day of events being held throughout the United States to mark the fifth anniversary of the Citizens United ruling and call for measures to curb the big-money influence corporations and the 1% have on our political system. Speakers began at 11:30 a.m. and explained how corporate, political spending influences a range of issues that affect Americans and our government.
As we head towards the 2016 Presidential Election, estimates are already predicting it to be the most expensive election in our history, topping last year’s 2014 midterm record-breaking spending. This has to end and our democracy needs to be restored.
